While visiting the Shinto Shrine of Ise; Jingu we were served tea that had been grown in the area. It was “ordinary” tea in terms of the crafting style yet extraordinary in terms of how it affected our minds, body and spirit. Perhaps because it had been grown in this most spiritual place or maybe because tea masters making it live with a consciousness of the connection between nature and human beings, we are not really sure. However it sent us on a mission to first find and then bring back to North America a little bit of the auspicious consciousness expressed in the ritual of tea.
