Tanabata celebrates the story of star crossed lovers that may only cross the Milky Way to meet once a year on the 7th day of the 7th month. We celebrate by writing a wish on Tanzaku and hanging it on bamboo branches. We invite all to hear this story and make a wish. Also enjoy shopping our collection of Kimonos, Yukatas, and Happi Coats that have never been showcased before. During your visit you can expand your origami and furoshiki skills, or grab a savory or sweet treat. Our guests can enjoy a special menu including an old favorite(Yaki Soba) and something new.
The celebration will take place on our parklet, which means that dine-in guests will be limited to indoor seating. A reservation is recommended if you wish to dine in. If you have a dog, please call for availability. (707)431-1995. Our full menu plus specials will be available in house and take out. The bar will be available for walk-ins.

- 10:30 & 2:30: RSVP for story time with Alison, she will be reading the story of a young girl celebrating the Star Festival. RSVP for Storytime A reservation is not required, however space is limited and rsvps will receive priority seating and a special snack to enjoy during the story. Seating will be outside on a covered floor, if you require a chair please call ahead. Feel free to bring a cushion to sit on.
- We will provide Tanzaku (paper to write your wish on) for you to tie up on bamboo, just like people all over Japan do on July 7th.
- Shop our collection of garments from Japan. Includes Kimono, Obi, Yukata, Haori, Samoe, and shoes.
- Grab a snack: Ready to go Musubi, Onigiri, Taiyaki, and tea inspired pastries.
- Star Boba: Try our special glittery boba with special star shaped lychee jellies.
- Origami is the art of folding paper, learn how with live demos on Saturday with open participation throughout the celebration.
- A furoshiki is a traditional wrapping cloth, in Japan they are used to wrap gifts and goods, but can also be used as a reuseable bag. Learn how with ongoing demos throughout the celebration. Use our furoshikis to learn, also available for purchase.
